Tunti Illuminating Boudoir Toy Box

I know I literally like, just got this a few days ago but I really can’t resist writing about it. This is such a nice fucking product. To bring those who are unaware up to date, I won this wonderful toy box courtesy of Tunti Enterprises after entering and winning their haiku contest last month. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to have such high quality, lockable toy storage on its way to me. When it finally arrived, the first thing I was struck with was the very attractive, sleek, discreet design. This seriously does not look like anything more assuming than a normal storage box. It could be anything; a box for a fancy camera, storage for art supplies, a small makeshift safe, etc. Save for the people who know about your interest in sex toys, people aren’t going to immediately think OBVIOUSLY THAT BOX HOLDS SEX TOYS! And if your living situation calls for that kind of discretion, this box offers it.

Second was the locks. The package had been sitting outside the front door since around ten that morning so it and the keys (of which there are two, both now kept in safe places) were very cold in my hands. At first I worried a little about the locking mechanism; the keys felt too delicate inside the locks and I worried that they would bend or even break as I turned the locks. But as I got more used to them, it became clear that these keys were made of stronger stuff than that. The locking mechanism is very simple and effective: simple latches that do not move when the box is locked up. Seriously, no one, unless they are totally dedicated to knowing what the fuck is in that box and have the proper tools and time on their hands, is going to get in this thing. Not just because of the locks but also because of the substantial sturdiness of this thing. It is a fucking rock. Even without sex toys inside it, it’s pretty hefty. The material is very solid and strong; you can tell just by touching and lifting it that it can take quite the beating and come out fine. The only way this thing is going to break or get seriously banged up is if you throw it down a craggy ravine or something. And honestly, if you do something like that you don’t fucking deserve such a nice toy box, you destructive asshole.

So anyway, moving on to the toys. This holds a lot. Right now, my toy collection is rather diminutive, I have about a dozen toys. The Tunti stores all of it quite comfortably and with lots of room for more. I have squirreled away in here: the Don Wands Bent Graduate, Don Wands Nubby Glass Vibrator, Papaya Toys Candy Stick, two butt plugs, Natural Contours Jolie, Sedeux Skyn dildo, Lelo Ella, the Tingle flogger, a bullet vibe (the kind with a big ol’ controller), velvet strap-on harness, Tantus Ripple, and some lube.

This is a very cute, clever storage option and it’s constructed very well. The lower part is lined with firm gray foam and has four movable dividers, three short, one long. I don’t need to use all three of the short ones. My one gripe with this box (and it’s a very small gripe indeed) is that sometimes the dividers don’t want to go into the grooves right. I didn’t have a problem with the longer one; just some of the smaller ones. One that I originally had in the lower left side just did not want to stay in that groove at all so I switched it out with the other. If you finagle them around and test them out in different places you can work it out; certain dividers like certain spots. But because of  these dividers the box is more customizable compared to other storage options that are just an open box or something like that. You can make sure that your toys fit comfortably and that incompatible materials don’t come into contact with one another. Other aspects that further insure that: the mesh netting on the upper lid (which holds things in place very well and has velcro strips to stay shut; I suggest being careful if you plan on storing delicate materials like sash ties or lingerie in there as the velcro could snag it) and  this awesome fucking plexiglass center divider.

This thing is so cool. It’s very sturdy, like the rest of the box and has the cute Tunti logo in the corner. It’s a soft pink, not some garish color that will stab you in the eyes, which is very nice. It helps keep everything in place, makes sure that no toys fall up into the extra space above the mesh and that everything stays in its own little hole. There’s also a little mesh pocket on the bottom (behind where the bright green Candy Stick is, if that helps) that runs the length of the box. It could store batteries, condoms, lube packets, etc and when I take it to Minnesota I plan on storing other intimates in it as well, like my menstrual cup and birth control.

One of this product’s biggest selling points is that it, as the name alludes to, illuminates. At the top, there’s a row of LED lights that come on whenever you open the box and shut off when it’s closed (like a refrigerator). This isn’t the box’s most amazing feature for me (in the sense that you wouldn’t have to say, IT LIGHTS UP for me to want it; I would want it as just the sturdy, reliable, attractive storage that it is, lights or not), as I have a bedside lamp, but I think it’s very neat and the kind of feature that I feel should be a no-brainer for sex storage; people enjoy fucking in the dark. It only makes sense. The lights run on two AA batteries that fit into a little box (under the lube, if that helps). When I first put batteries in to test the lights out I was unpleasantly surprised: these lights were weak as hell! How could this be, I’ve read so many praises about these lights and how wonderful and helpful they are! WTF?! And then I realized that I am fucking stupid sometimes and had put near-dead batteries in it. Silly, silly Ashley. So. Upon putting fully charged batteries in I was then treated to the lights as they are supposed to be.

I really love this toy box. It’s practical, functional and, best of all, is at-home and travel storage. Even though I have yet to travel with it Andreas lives in Minnesota, so I will in a few months. I no longer have to worry about how I’m going to safely transport my toys or where I’m going to safely store them once I arrive at my destination; this box provides that kind of confidence and peace of mind. If you have a smaller toy collection like mine or have a large collection but want a safe place to store/travel with some of your favorite toys, I cannot recommend the Tunti enough. So head on over and get one or enter the December Tunti give-away and win one like I did! Thanks so much to Ilse at Tunti Enterprises for providing my toys with a safe home!

Yall have to go see her winning haiku — it is brilliant and hysterical: http://blog.tuntienterprises.com/?p=1

I wanted to offer a little tip, in regards to the comment about storing delicates in the mesh pouch: The Toy Geek (http://thetoygeek.blogspot.com) suggests covering the velcro with electrical tape, in order to keep it from snagging anything.

    I love the blog snow.

    Thank you again!
