Review: My Mini Nubby Vibe

So, it’s been quite some time since I wrote anything, much less a review. I’ve been working on this one for some time, mostly because I’m just insanely busy right now but also because it’s hard to come up with much to say about the Mini Nubby Vibe. I thought it was very cute-looking and I needed a new clit vibe so I requested it from Vibrator.com.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first experience with a watch-battery powered toy and this is what I’ve taken away from that: I really hate watch batteries. The toy came with two sets of four batteries. They were very difficult to slide into the narrow battery chamber so all four batteries sat properly. When I finally did get them in right, I discovered that the first set of batteries was dead. Fortunately the second set worked. Now that we’ve inserted the batteries properly, on to the toy itself!

The My Mini Nubby Vibe is very cute, in a this-looks-like-a-cat-toy kind of way. The upper part is covered in a very squishy rubber feeling material (that is listed as TPR) and the bottom that unscrews to reveal the battery compartment is hard plastic. The mechanism for turning this toy on is somewhat frustrating: there are no buttons. After putting the bottom back on you have to screw it on extra tight and that’s what turns it on. And to turn it off, you turn it back a little bit. It’s probably one of the oddest methods for turning on a toy I’ve encountered. But all of these idiosyncrasies can be forgiven and forgotten if the toy delivers on vibrations!

But it doesn’t. At all. I can barely feel this toy. It’s the lowest frequency buzz I’ve ever felt. The details of the product say it has three speeds but 1) I have no idea how to make those speeds happen and 2) on the off-chance that I did make them happen, it all felt the same. I was hoping that the nubs at the end of the toy would produce some extra stimulation that the vibrations weren’t but the material is so soft that it doesn’t feel like anything. I knew right away that this was not the kind of toy that could bring me to orgasm so I thought, hey, maybe I can just use it as a warm up toy to stronger sex toys! I asked Andreas to use it on me to see if it would even get me wet and it failed miserably at the task. The vibrations of this toy are so low that it literally just feels like pressing a piece of rubber against my clit.

But I wasn’t going to give up on the Mini Nubby; like with the nipple suckers, I thought maybe this toy would excel at something that it wasn’t exactly intended for and tried it as a nipple stimulator. But again, the Nubby let me down. The vibrations are just too low; I can only imagine someone who is extraordinarily sensitive, like orgasming from just your underwear rubbing against you sensitive, responding to this toy. And even after all that, I was going to give the Nubby Vibe another chance. Unfortunately, when I went to use it again a few weeks later, I found it dead.  I don’t know if it’s just the batteries or the toy itself.

I was truly rooting for the Mini Nubby Vibe; it’s cute and interesting looking and would be a great clitoral stimulator if there was more power behind it. It can’t be completely sanitized but it’s pretty simple to clean with soap and water. Sadly, it just doesn’t cut it as a clit vibrator, especially since this is $21. When you can get a simple bullet vibe for less that’ll likely pack way more of a punch, I just can’t recommend the My Mini Nubby Vibe to anyone, except maybe the household cat; he’ll probably get more fun out of it than I did.
